Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson Sets Broadway Closing Date

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, the irreverent rock musical about America’s infamous seventh president, has set a closing date of January 2, 2011, at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The show began previews on September 20 and officially opened on October 13. At closing, it will have played a total of 120 performances.

“We are so proud to have been part of this extraordinary production," producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel said in a statement. "The good news is that we believe Bloody will be done throughout the country in the years ahead. There is considerable interest already from resident theaters and also from London.”

The show had a LAB debut at the Public Theater in 2009, and went on to extend three times during a sellout run that began April 6, 2010. The musical made its way uptown with Benjamin Walker back in his role as Old Hickory, singing songs about populism, political corruption and being a rock star.

In addition to Walker, Bloody Bloody’s Broadway cast featured Cameron Ocasio as Lyncoya, James Barry as Male Soloist, Bryce Pinkham as Clay/Blackhawk, Darren Goldstein as Calhoun, Greg Hildreth as Red Eagle, Jeff Hiller as John Quincy Adams, Nadia Quinn as Woman, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe as Martin Van Buren, Maria Elena Ramirez as Rachel Jackson, Kate Cullen Roberts as Elizabeth, Ben Steinfeld as Monroe, Kristine Nielsen as the Storyteller and Emily Young as Female Soloist. It was written and directed by Alex Timbers, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman.
